Learn More about McBride from her Bio:

Contemporary country singer Martina McBride rose to stardom in the late '90s, starting out with a more traditionalist approach and moving into pop-friendlier territory. She was born Martina Mariea Schiff in Medicine Lodge, KS, in 1966, and discovered country music through her father, who led a local band called the Schifters. By her teen years, she was singing and playing keyboards with the Schifters, and after high school she gigged around Kansas with several different bands. She married soundman John McBride, and in 1990 the couple moved to Nashville, where John worked for artists like Charlie Daniels and Ricky Van Shelton; Martina, meanwhile, worked as a demo singer, and her husband produced her own demo tape, which got her signed to RCA in 1991. Around the same time, John was hired as Garth Brooks' production manager, which helped land Martina an opening slot on tour with Brooks. Her debut album, The Time Has Come, was released in 1992, offering a set of songs indebted to traditional honky tonk and progressive-minded country-folk. The pop-inflected 1993 follow-up The Way That I Am was her commercial breakthrough, with the lead single "My Baby Loves Me" zooming up the country charts to the number two position. The affecting story-song "Independence Day" became something of a signature number, and another single, "Life #9," also reached the Top Ten.

McBride's 1995 follow-up Wild Angels gave her a second Top Five hit in "Safe in the Arms of Love," and its title track became her first-ever number one single in 1996. 1997's Evolution became her first Top Ten country album, and the Jim Brickman duet "Valentine" not only went Top Ten, but crossed over to become her first big hit on the adult contemporary charts. Evolution went on to spawn two number-two hits ("Happy Girl" and "Whatever You Say") and two number-one hits ("A Broken Wing" and "Wrong Again"), and sold over two million copies, launching McBride into the top rank of country stardom. She issued a Christmas album in late 1998, and returned with the proper follow-up Emotion in 1999. Its lead single, "I Love You," hit number one country and also crossed over to adult contemporary radio, and the follow-ups "Love's the Only House," "There You Are," and "It's My Time" were all successful as well, with the former two reaching the Top Ten. 2001's Greatest Hits compilation was the first McBride album to top the country charts, and sold well enough to make the pop Top Five as well. It contained four new tracks, all of which were eventually released as singles; "Blessed" hit number one, and "When God-Fearin' Women Get the Blues" and "Where Would You Be" both reached the Top Ten. Martina from 2003 celebrated womanhood while Timeless from 2005 was a collection of country classics. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

DE LA HOYA VS MAYWEATHER TICKETS ON SALE JANUARY 27

DE LA HOYA VS MAYWEATHER TICKETS ON SALE JANUARY 27

LAS VEGAS – Golden Boy Promotions is pleased to announce that the hottest ticket in sports, Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather, will go on sale Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. The unprecedented battle between six-division world champion De La Hoya and unbeaten, four-division world champion Mayweather will be held Saturday, May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Tickets are priced at $2000, $1,500, $1,000, $750, $350 and $150 and will be available at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office. Ticket sales at $2000, $1,500, $1,000 and $750 are limited to six (6) per person and ticket sales at $350 and $150 are limited to two (2) per person.

The live gate could exceed a Nevada-record $18 million which would shatter the $16.8 million generated by the Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield rematch in 1999. There is high anticipation that ticket sales will be brisk and could sell out quickly.

"We already have received an unprecedented amount of inquiries at our offices regarding tickets for the fight," said Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions. "The response is amazing and certainly reflects the excitement and magnitude of this fantastic event."

Since winning a 1992 Olympics Gold Medal representing the United States, De La Hoya (38-4, 30 KOs) has become not only one of the premier boxers of this era, but a true star. A champion in every division in which he has competed from 130 to 160 pounds, 'The Golden Boy' has faced boxing's elite for more than 14 years including Julio Cesar Chavez, Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosley, Felix Trinidad, Pernell Whitaker, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Arturo Gatti, Genaro Hernandez, Jesse James Leija and Hector Camacho. In his last fight, May 6, 2006, the 33-year-old De La Hoya destroyed two-division world champion Ricardo Mayorga in six rounds to win the WBC junior middleweight championship.

Mayweather (37-0, 24 KOs), one of the most gifted fighters to ever step between the ropes, represented the United States in the 1996 Olympics and was on his way to a gold medal before a controversial loss forced him to accept the bronze medal. 'Pretty Boy Floyd' won his first world title at the age of 21 in 1998 stopping Genaro Hernandez. He later defended that title eight times including wins over Diego Corrales, Carlos Hernandez and Jesus Chavez. In 2002, Mayweather added a lightweight title by beating Jose Luis Castillo. Mayweather then went on to capture junior welterweight and welterweight championships when he defeated Gatti and Zab Judah, respectively. In his most recent fight, November 4, 2006, the 29-year-old Mayweather won yet another 147-pound title by defeating Carlos Baldomir.
